You don’t provide a place to pump? No worries, I’ll just make myself at home in public

Heading back to work after 3 months has been an adjustment…being Canadian really puts salt on that wound! I have had to mentally prepare myself. 1. I’m leaving behind a little person who has been part of me for a year. 2. My brain does not work the way it did before maternity leave and I need to be ok with that.

l have made the decision to continue breastfeeding Dominik for as long as I can. Yes, this is a choice my husband and I have made, but it’s a choice that has made going back to life much harder, that’s for sure! Not only do I have to worry about having enough daily supply to feed my child, but I also have to pump between meetings (3x during the day to keep my milk supply), which if that’s not a mental disruption, I don’t know what is…Oh and don’t get me started on people booking meetings during your pump time.

Well, this week I added another interesting pumping stressor. I had an event in the evening. Here I thought I was #winning by bringing all my supplies with me. Even brought backups with me, just in case. And I was winning until there was no private place to pump! I could have gone and not pumped for 4 hours, but if any of you have done this you know there are risks. Obviously mastitis is a real thing and something that hurts like a mofo!
